ANTIQUE 1802 COCKS & BETTRIDGE STERLING SILVER VINAIGRETTE PERFUME SCENT BOTTLE

Up for auction, we are offering a rare antique engraved,
George III form,
COCKS & BETTRIDGE
sterling silver Vinaigrette, perfume or "Scent Bottle."
The Vinaigrette has a hinged cover which opens to reveal a compartment where a sponge is located.
T
he interior is stamped on lid and base with an 1802 Birmingham, England sterling silver hallmark and a "Cocks & Bettridge" maker's mark.
The cap unscrews to reveal the pierced grille.
The oval, flask like shaped body is engraved on both sides with a beautiful diamond quilt like pattern and the sides are engraved also with a dot design.
It measures about 1&13/16 inches long by 1&3/16 inches wide (at the widest point) and 9/16 inches thick.
I usually do not deal in Silver and Gold, so I do not have a special scale for weighing such items.
Using my postal scale, the vinaigrette weighs approximately 0.6 ounces or 17.01 grams or 0.547 troy ounces without the sponge.
The vinaigrette is in good condition with some light marks, scratches, soiling, stains, tarnish & wear.
In addition, there are a couple of “dents” in the metal.
