Vintage Art Deco Galalith Faux Coral Plastic Necklace Germany
This vintage Art Deco  Galalith Coral Necklace marked Germany is very nice!
It has a large teardrop floral pendant and lovely beads on the chain.
The delicate brass findings and hardware are readily identifiable from the Art Deco era.
Galalith was made for a short period of time in France (sometimes called French Bakelite) and
Germany before WW2. It looks a lot like celluloid, but when heated, smells like sour milk as it
is a milk-based casein plastic. This beauty would make a fabulous addition to your early plastics collection!
The clasp hardware is marked Germany. The necklace chain is 17.5" long and the pendant measures
1-5/8" long with bale. This is a wonderful piece hailing from the Art Deco period, estimated circa 1920s.
